Vosters Insurance was founded in 2010 by Jim Vosters. He has been associated with Hortica, a brand of Sentry Insurance Group – The Florists’ Mutual Insurance Company for the past 30 years. In 1994 he initiated the development of the Nursery Crop Insurance program for Hortica and was one of the instructors during the annual crop insurance training for Hortica’s company agents. He has extensive experience working with insurance providers Rain and Hail, RCIS, ARMtech, and Hudson on the Nursery Crop program. Associated with Vosters Nurseries, Inc., in Miami, Florida for many years he has extensive experience in the Floral/Horticultural Industry. An active participant in industry associations, Jim has held offices which include President of the Southern Chapter of the Florida Foliage Association, Vice President of the Florida Foliage Association, President of the Foliage Marketing Institute, Chairman of the Growers Division of the Society of American Florists, and Board Member of the Society of American Florists. Jim is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
In 2011 Doug Vosters joined Vosters Insurance Inc. to assist in administering the nursery crop insurance program. Working from the ground up, he is proficient in all aspects of the program. Doug is a fully licensed Florida General Lines agent and also holds non-resident agent licenses in over 15 states. Doug has practical work experience in the horticultural industry. Having grown up in the nursery industry, he attained much knowledge about the working of that industry. In addition, he worked for Vosters Floral Inc for several years. While in this position he gained an understanding of the retail, wholesale, and import segments of the floral industry. Having owned his own general contracting construction company for 15 years, Doug understands business ownership and the insurance requirements needed for a properly insured business.
